Each Breath That We Take!

Songs of inspiration for all of life's relationships!

by the Fouty's, Fayrene and Steve

Featuring "Take the Chance To Love Again", "If We Never Face It, It Won't Ever Leave" and "Rip it to Shreds"

Each Breath that We Take is an album celebrating life and its relationships.  It is also a call to awaken and not take any of our relationships for granted, for they are truly life's greatest gifts.

The title song, "Each Breath that I Take", was written on the back deck of our house when Fayrene's 92 year old mother, Thelma Bishop, lived with us.   Though suffering from Alzheimer's disease, Thelma continued to offer words of deep wisdom and encouragement.  Though most of her short-term memory was gone, her connection to Truth and Spirit were more alive than ever.

Thelma taught us to slow down and enjoy each moment, to appreciate one another, to stop and smell the roses.  We would often bring the guitar out and sit with Thelma on our back deck and sing songs.  One such evening, her inspiring words led to the creation of this song.

Though Thelma has since gone on into the heavens, her inspiration and wisdom remain with us every day.  When you hear the song "Each Breath that I Take" that she inspired, you will see why she remains such a special person in the lives of all she touched.

To make the song extra special, Fayrene's brother Gary Bishop and his Wife, Judy, as well as Fayrene's son's Phillip and Bill Sanders, and Bill's wife Frances also sing on the song.

There are spiritual love songs on the album that celebrate the union of man and woman.  "The Painter's Oil" is the first love song we were ever inspired to write about our own relationship.   It speaks of God's perfect timing when bringing to soul mates together.  "Morningstar and Prophet", celebrates the healing and power that one couple's love can have upon their entire family, heritage, and community.

Their are a lot of up-tempo, upbeat songs that celebrate true love.  From the bluegrass tinged "Too Many Rungs on This Ladder" , to the country-blues rocker "Rip It To Shreds", to the 50's doo-wop "For Lovers Only".  These songs celebrate the exhilaration and freedom we experience when we surrender to true love and release ourselves from our pre-conceived ideas life and love.

There are also songs about keeping communication open and dealing with issues that arise in our relationships.  "If We Never Face It, It Will Never Leave", is a up-tempo bluegrass tune about facing the little things that creep in and destroy our communication and our joy of life.  "It Can Wait" reminds us that, too often, our lives get so busy that we tend to neglect those closest to us.  It is a wake up call that sometimes you just have to say, "It Can Wait", and give your closest relationships the time and attention needed to restore communication.

For anyone that has ever had a relationship go sour (is there anyone who hasn't?", "Take the Chance To Love Again" tackles the fear we face when we have been hurt by love and are afraid to open up and trust again.

"Is Love A Drug?" looks at the miraculous and awesome power of love and how we, as human beings, cannot live without it.

There is also a song that celebrate the mysterious an awesome power of womanhood, Fayrene soars on the blues tune "I'm Like My Mama"  Likewise a song that celebrates manhood, "A Simple Honest Man", which features Fayrene's oldest son Bill Sanders.  Bill was the original inspiration for the song, so it only seemed fitting that he should sing on the recording.

The album ends with an a cappela version of the chorus of "Each Breath That I Take"  featuring Fayrene's family again.

The songs presented on "Each Breath That We Take" are stories and parables of life.  Within these parables are nuggets of truth and healing.  As you listen to the album, let the Holy Spirit reveal the truth that is contained in each song in the way that will bring the most healing and awakening and joy into your life!  Our desire is that our music is a tool to bring you into a deeper relationship with your God, your mate, your family and your communities.

"Each Breath that We Take" was engineered by our dear friend and talented producer/arranger Gary Mielke, Owner of Gary Mielke Productions.

The cover to "Each Breath that We Take" was taken in the cotton field of Thelma Bishop's farm (Fayrene's mother).  This is the farm in which Fayrene grew up with her 7 other siblings.  Our granddaughter Michayla Sanders and great-nephew Kyle Raspberry appear in one picture, Fayrene and I are in the middle picture, and Fayrene's brother Merlyn Bishop and her Aunt Edith Kifer (Thema's sister) are in the final picture.

The album is dedicated to the life of Thelma Bishop.  Though she has left her human body behind, she continues to speak to us and inspire us daily to live a simple life and cherish every relationship that we have.
