Lyrics from the CD

"Each Breath That We Take"

Each Breath that i take

How do we slow down the wheel of time that goes ‘round?

How do we take the time without it passing us by?

Each moment is sacred, yet they pass without a prayer

We take each other for granted, ‘til we’re no longer here

Oh let me stop, let me stand

Let me reach out with my hand

Let me bow, let me pray

And give thanks for each breath that I take

Love knows no stranger, love has no walls

Yet fear often sees danger where there’s none at all

Each day is a present, each hour is a pearl

With open arms let us welcome all who come in our world

Oh let us stop, let us stand

Let us reach out with our hands

Let us bow, let us pray

And give thanks for each breath that we take

Oh let me stop, let me stand

Let me reach out with my hand

Let me bow, let me pray

And give thanks for each breath that I take

Is Love A Drug?

Is love a drug that I can’t do without?

It’s so intoxicating, makes me lose all doubt

So exhilarating, makes me feel alive

If love’s a drug, then I want some tonight

Is love a drug?  I can’t go for long

Without a dose or two to keep me feelin’ strong

Shoots right through my veins, makes me feel so high

If love’s a drug, then ev’ryone should try

This thing called love can’t be bought or sold

Comes from a seed found only in the soul

Somehow it grows, the Spirit only knows

I’d say that God made love…a miracle drug

Is love a drug?  Then why’s it not a crime

To tell the world what love’s done for my life

The more we share it the more potent it becomes

If love’s a drug, I’m addicted to this one

This thing called love can’t be bought or sold

Comes from a seed found only in the soul

Somehow it grows, the Spirit only knows

I’d say that God made love…a miracle drug

Once you’ve felt love in your life

There’s no other drug you want to try

This thing called love can’t be bought or sold

Comes from a seed found only in the soul

Somehow it grows, the Spirit only knows

I’d say that God made love…a miracle drug

I’d say that God made love…a miracle drug

If We Never Face It, It won't ever leave

We can turn out the lights, pretend we can’t see

Go to sleep and wander in a dream

Or spend all night changing channels on TV

But if we never face it, it won’t ever leave

We can wake every morning, keep our feelings hid

Let the pressure build underneath the lid

Days turn to nights, without a moment’s peace

If we never face it, it won’t ever leave

It’s the pea in the mattress of the princess’ bed at night

The needle in the haystack that we’ve got to find

Some things are better when they’re left alone

But this we must go over with a fine-tooth comb

We can shut the door and lock it and throw away the key

But if we never face it, it won’t ever leave

We’ve played games in our life before

Trying to deny it, choosing to ignore

Staring at the forest, we cannot see the trees

Well if we never face it, it won’t ever leave

It’s the pea in the mattress of the princess’ bed at night

The needle in the haystack that we’ve got to find

Some things are better when they’re left alone

But this we must go over with a fine-tooth comb

We can shut the door and lock it and throw away the key

But if we never face it, it won’t ever leave

There’s a fly in the ointment, a wrinkle in the plan

A fox in the hen house, but it won’t ever win

Gonna nip it in the bud, take the ax to the root

Time to face the music, time to speak the truth…

It’s the pea in the mattress of the princess’ bed at night

The needle in the haystack that we’ve got to find

Some things are better when they’re left alone

But this we must go over with a fine-tooth comb

We can shut the door and lock it and throw away the key

But if we never face it, it won’t ever leave

Rip It To Shreds

When we met my life was held together by a job and casual friends

But I was lacking a sense of adventure, that’s what you promised so I let you in

With one touch, I came undone, and fell apart at the seams

Go on and rip it to shreds, my reputation

Rip it to shreds, ev’rything that I’ve gained

Rip it to shreds, my imaginations

Strippin’ me down ‘til nothin’ remains

Layer by layer it’s all been shed

Your lovin’ touch… ripped it to shreds

Lost my job without any warning, lost friends who didn’t understand

Lost my pride, but I am not mourning, I found love hangin’ by a strand

You unwound what had me bound, from my toes up to the top of my head

Go on and rip it to shreds, my reputation

Rip it to shreds, ev’rything that I’ve gained

Rip it to shreds, my imaginations

Strippin’ me down ‘til nothin’ remains

Layer by layer it’s all been shed

Your lovin’ touch… ripped it to shreds

What used to be wrapped around me, is just a pile of threads

Go on and rip it to shreds, my reputation

Rip it to shreds, ev’rything that I’ve gained

Rip it to shreds, my imaginations

Strippin’ me down ‘til nothin’ remains

Layer by layer it’s all been shed…

Rip it to shreds, my reputation

Rip it to shreds, ev’rything that I’ve gained

Rip it to shreds, my imaginations

Strippin’ me down ‘til nothin’ remains

Layer by layer it’s all been shed

Your lovin’ touch… ripped it to shreds

I'M LIKE MY MAMA

I can ride like the wind, turn like a tornado

Stand tall like a mountain, erupt like a volcano

With the grace of a river, or the power of the ocean

You never can tell when I’ll loose my emotions

‘Cause I’m like my mama, just like my mama

…Mother Earth

I’ll give you everything, you won’t be denied

But you better show respect for me, or I’ll turn the tide

‘Cause I’m like my mama, just like my mama

…Mother Earth

I was born ‘neath the stars, raised on sunshine

The moon’s been my friend, helped me through dark times

You can hang around, but give me my space

If you do me right, I’ll love you all your days

I’m like my mama, just like my mama

…Mother Earth

I’ll give you everything, you won’t be denied

But you better show respect for me, or I’ll turn the tide

‘Cause I’m like my mama, just like my mama

…Mother Earth

I’ll give you everything, you won’t be denied

But you better show respect for me, or I’ll turn the tide

‘Cause I’m like my mama, just like my mama

…Mother Earth

MORNINGSTAR AND PROPHET

He was a caballero on the western plains

Hair was long and sandy, Prophet was his name

An she, a Mayan princess, eyes the deepest green

Her people called her Morningstar, the future she could see

But neither one foresaw the night when their paths would meet

This lonesome caballero and the Indiana queen

The morningstars sang to the heavens, the prophets called to the land

There’s not a more sacred ceremony than the love between a woman and a man

She danced the dance of destiny, he watched her ev’ry move

Then he took his flute out and played a wistful tune

They danced a dance together, a prairie promenade

He took her hand in marriage, she took his last name

A thousand Indian legends met the folklore of the plains

As Morningstar and Prophet shared their native dreams

Morningstar sang to the heavens, Prophet called to the land

There’s not a more sacred ceremony than the love between a woman and a man

Now the story’s often told that on their wedding night

From the ashes of a trail of tears, the phoenix took its flight

Morningstar sang to the heavens, Prophet called to the land

There’s not a more sacred ceremony than the love between a woman and a man

TOO MANY RUNGS ON THIS LADDER

Too many rungs on this ladder, too many holes in this pale

If I tried to put out this fire, I’m sure I would fail

There’s too many reasons I love you, can’t find one reason I don’t

Too many rungs on this ladder, so I will sit back and watch the smoke

When our lives collided a fire ignited, seen for miles around

Well meaning folks and friends who were close, told us to cool things down

But something had started, we were a part of, we didn’t mind the heat

So if you drive by and the flames are so high, it’s not an emergency

Too many rungs on this ladder, too many holes in this pale

If I tried to put out this fire, I’m sure I would fail

There’s too many reasons I love you, can’t find one reason I don’t

Too many rungs on this ladder, so I will sit back and watch the smoke

Like smolderin’ ash, my love life had passed to an old memory

Couldn’t remember when flickering embers, had an impact on me

Now sparks are flyin’ and I’m realizin’, life has handed to me

A second chance, a burning romance, and a place in history

There’s too many reasons I love you, can’t find one reason I don’t

Too many rungs on this ladder, so I will sit back and watch the smoke

A SIMPLE HONEST MAN

Sometimes I’m feelin’ rugged, sometimes my eyes are dry

Sometimes my thoughts are tender, sometimes I need to cry

Sometimes I lend my talents, sometimes I need a hand

I guess I’m must what you would call a simple, honest man

Sometimes I like things get to me, sometimes I let things slide

Some things I want the world to see, some things I choose to hide

Sometimes I think I’m righteous, sometimes I think I’ve sinned

But one thing that I always am, is a simple, honest man

Doesn’t mean I’m always right, doesn’t mean I don’t get uptight

But I won’t tell you one thing, if I’m thinkin’ something else

And if I’m feelin’ something, I’ll not keep it to myself

I’ve learned enough from life to understand…

The joy in life is livin’ as a simple, honest man

Now I don’t hide my feelings, and I’m not afraid to say

“Honey, put your arms around me, things were rough today”

I think I’ve finally realized man’s strength comes from inside

And by far the greatest muscle is a heart that’s open wide

Doesn’t mean I’m always right, doesn’t mean I don’t get uptight

But I won’t tell you one thing, if I’m thinkin’ something else

And if I’m feelin’ something, I’ll not keep it to myself

I’ve learned enough from life to understand…

The joy in life is livin’ as a simple, honest man

Now I feel the Lord inside of me and I know He guides my life

And some things He’s still working on, some things He says are fine

But the one thing He says most to me, when I ask Him ‘bout his plan

He says, “Son, don’t forget to always be, a simple, honest man”

Doesn’t mean we’re always right, doesn’t mean we don’t get uptight

But we won’t tell you one thing, if we’re thinkin’ something else

And if we’re feelin’ something, we’ll not keep it to our self

We’ve learned enough from life to understand…

The joy in life is livin’ as a simple, honest man

I’ve learned enough from life to understand…

The joy in life is livin’ as a simple, honest man

TAKE THE CHANCE TO LOVE AGAIN

In our life we’ve driven down some hard roads

We try to steer clear of talks of yesterday

Somewhere along the bend we were taken for a spin

And when the ride was done we swore we’d never love again

Take the chance to love again, take the chance to ride

Take the chance to feel again, put the spark back in our eyes

See the things we’ve gained and kiss away the pain

Be my lover, be my friend, take the chance to love again

We flew just like an eagle once upon a time

‘Til we let somebody else’s hearts control the flight

Don’t you think that we’ve been grounded long enough my friend

Spread our wings and take the chance to love again

Take the chance to love again, take the chance to fly

Take the chance to feel again, put the spark back in our eyes

See the things we’ve gained and kiss away the pain

Be my lover, be my friend, take the chance to love again

We could be lovers, we could be best friends

But we’ve got to risk it all to sail into the wind, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh

Take the chance to love again, take the chance to ride

Take the chance to feel again, put the spark back in our eyes

See the things we’ve gained and kiss away the pain

Be my lover, be my friend, take the chance to love again

Be my lover, be my friend, take the chance to love again

IT CAN WAIT

No ev’ning paper, no late-night news

Tonight we’re not concerned about what other people do

No headlines, no prime time

It can wait, it can wait

Turn down the lights, unplug the phone

Let’s spend some time alone

No distractions, no coming attractions

It can wait, it can wait

The boss is always givin’ me a new deadline

That keeps me at the office overtime

The phone is always ringin’ at the wrong time

Just when we’re about to speak our minds

Our thoughts are heavy, clothes are tight

Let’s put our robes on and unwind

Get still, forget the bills

It can wait, it can wait

If we prioritize the things in our life

At the top is love, joy and peace

So tonight, you and I, will get things in line

And the garbage we’ll throw in a heap

You get a blanket, I’ll close the blinds

I’ll scratch your back, honey you scratch mine

Dinner will keep, forget about sleep

It can wait, it can wait

Dinner will keep, forget about sleep

It can wait, it can wait

FOR LOVERS ONLY

Shoo be do bop bop, shoo be do wha

Shoo be do bop bop, shoo be do wha

Shoo be do bop bop, shoo be do wha

Shoo be do bop bop, shoo be do wha

When we were dating and still in our teens

We’d always wind up at lovers leap

There was a sign on the tree by the gate

Notice to all who passed this way, it said:

This place is for lovers only, only lovers can stay

Anyone who causes trouble, will be escorted away

Behind every door, love can be explored

This place is for lovers only, only lovers can stay

Went to Virginia for our honeymoon

Got a room with an ocean view

Before the bellboy gave us the key

There was a sign we had to read, it said:

This place is for lovers only, only lovers can stay

Anyone who causes trouble, will be escorted away

Behind every door, love can be explored

This place is for lovers only, only lovers can stay

Last night at midnight, I had a dream

We were standing before a King

It was the Lord, come back to birth

A home for lovers only on the earth, He said:

This place is for lovers only, only lovers can stay

Anyone who causes trouble, will be escorted away

Behind every door, love can be explored

This place is for lovers only, only lovers can stay

Shoo be do bop bop, shoo be do wha

Shoo be do bop bop, shoo be do wha

Shoo be do bop bop, shoo be do wha

Shoo be do bop bop, shoo be do wha

THE PAINTER'S OILS

If I had a canvas and could paint a picture true

I’d paint the brightest rainbow, with the sun a shinin’ through

I’d make sure birds were singing  and children wore a smile

Sunbeams dance ‘cross the stream, like diamonds in a pile

Sky so blue, grass so green, sandy shores are white

This picture is of my life, since our love’s come alive

You drew the highest vision out of me, when I’d forgotten how to dream

When all my hopes were trampled on, you brought me virgin soil

When the canvas was bare, you became the painter’s oil

The Painter saw an empty soul that had reached the end

One whose life had faded like a flower in the wind

So He lifted up His brush and painted a new heart

Then He said the time has come for miracles to start

At that very moment you walked into my life

And brought a ray of color to my word so black and white

You drew the highest vision out of me, when I’d forgotten how to dream

When all my hopes were trampled on, you brought me virgin soil

When the canvas was bare, you became the painter’s oil

You drew the highest vision out of me, when I’d forgotten how to dream

When all my hopes were trampled on, you brought me virgin soil

When the canvas was bare, you became the painter’s oil
